Electric Vehicles are becoming a new future to this era. All automakers are trying to switch their ICEs to E.V.s with the advanced innovations and developments. European Union, too has officially declared to ban all gas combustion engines by 2035 and switch to complete electric vehicles.
Similarly, the USA's EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) has declared to fund USD 5 million to electrify all ICE school buses. As per the report of the U.S. Public Interest Research Group, there is a sum of 480,000 busses on the roads of America, out of which only 1 percent has electric engines while the rest omit gas. That is why this funding was necessary to cut down 8 million metric tons of carbon emissions annually.
However, funding would be available to only those schools that are either in the rural areas or are schools for special children. These buses will also be used to power the electrical grid when on stand-by during schooling hours to maximize the electrical grid and the usage of renewable energy. On the other hand, not just busses, individual automakers are also gradually accepting Ev’s importance to the world and making amends to their auto-making chain.
However, E.V.s have always been expensive, and people refrain from buying electric cars considering the price hike in materials and parts. This was when Chevrolet announced that Chevy Bolt EV, the 2023 model, would be USD 5,900 less than the 2022 model. In addition, the Bolt EV will also be reducing its prices by USD 6,300 this year. These price reductions have taken place to make electronic cars budget-friendly.
When most manufacturers are raising their automobile prices, Chevrolet taking the other way around has made it competitive in the electronic vehicle industry. Even though most automakers have not released their prices for 2023 models, Chevrolet’s Bolt EV is already said to be the cheapest.
Like Chevrolet, Buick has announced that it will no longer launch any gas combustion engines in North America by 2030. However, Buick Wildcat, the most recent electronic vehicle model by Buick, has been said to be paving a new way for the century-old automaker. As Rob Peterson, the marketing manager at Buick, Wildcat's sleek design and cutting edge gives it a futuristic look and a message to the users of its electric power.
Ford has accompanied the 27 other European manufacturers in boycotting all ICE vehicles by 2035. They aim to reduce carbon emissions by 2050 and make the world more habitable. Stuart Rowley, the head of Ford in Europe, says that it is not just us, the automakers, but also the policymakers at the European Union who need to make amends to their goals and ensure that all gas-powered vehicles are banned. Ford has again launched nine more E.V. models and will go at zero pieces of ice by 2035 if continued at the same pace.
With the continuous inflation, it might seem that the automakers are struggling too. However, the E.V. industry is growing at its peak even in these hard times. The sales of electric cars were recorded the highest in 2022 and are expected to rise to 1 trillion by 2026. Electric vehicles are not just the decade's trend but will revolutionize our transport system with time. As automakers make their E.V.s more affordable, the purchasing power is also rising, making E.V.s more accessible.
