We are trying to carve out the roads in the Northwestern region of Los Angeles like we are driving the Ford Mustang 2018. But we are not. Instead, we are driving the Ford Expedition 2018 model.
This is not a slagging on the Ford Mustang, which does an incredible job by the way. The real surprise at the moment is the Expedition, which tackles these roads far much better than an eight-passenger SUV ought to have.
We moved from Marina De Rey straight to Malibu using a 2.3-litre Eco-boost Mustang, straight to Mulholland drive, Kanan Dume Road and then to Topanga Canyon Drive. Upon arrival at Calamigos Ranch Resort, we switched into the Expedition and drive in the same road we did over again.
Now if you think the roads we traveled are twisty, then it’s obvious you do not know the half of it. We were surprised at how it handled it very well. It didn’t match the ability of the Mustang but was great on the road.
It seems the Expedition lost 150 kilograms as it went into a diet of aluminum despite the fact that it comes with several latest features which include a panoramic sunroof, 10-speed transmission, and power third-row folding seats and more legroom in the car’s third row.
The SUV has a rack-mounted electric assist type of motor for its power steering, a tight turning ratio and an independent rear suspension that makes the Expedition a great ride and surprise of the year.
The 2018 Expedition comes with a lot of features and upgrade. The only engine that is offered in all the lineups includes the 3.5-liter Ecoboost V6 which offers two set of specifications. Therefore, for models that are under the Platinum horsepower is increased by 10 to 375 while torque is increased by 70 lbs – 470 lb-ft. While for the main Platinum models, it delivers 400hp and torque 480 lb-ft.
Chevy Tahoe has been in the king in terms of sales for the last decade. But this 2018 Expedition which is Ford’s full frontal assault is ready to take back some or all of its glory and dominance. So Tahoe, watch your back, the Expedition might just turn the tables around for you
